Paulina Sobczak

For the exhibition “Forte e Gentile – I Volti dell’Abruzzo”, Paulina contributed ten portraits portraying people whose lives and work reflect the evolving identity of Abruzzo. Stefano Schirato is a documentary photographer based in Abruzzo whose work focuses on social, cultural and human stories. Through photography, he explores the relationship between people, communities, and the places they inhabit, giving voice to often overlooked realities and personal experiences.

For the exhibition “Forte e Gentile – I Volti dell’Abruzzo”, Stefano contributed six portraits that capture the character, resilience and authenticity of individuals who help shape the identity of contemporary Abruzzo. His documentary approach brings depth and humanity to the project, highlighting the connection between personal stories and the wider cultural landscape.

Luciano D’Angelo

Luciano D’Angelo is an Italian photographer whose work is deeply connected to the cultural memory and traditions of Abruzzo. Through his photography, he documents professions, crafts, and ways of life that have shaped the region for generations, preserving stories that risk disappearing with the passage of time.

His photographic research focuses particularly on traditional occupations and the people who have dedicated their lives to them, creating a valuable visual archive of Abruzzo’s social and cultural heritage. His work highlights the dignity, knowledge, and resilience embodied in these professions and the communities that sustain them.

For the exhibition “Forte e Gentile – I Volti dell’Abruzzo”, Luciano contributed four portraits selected from his book dedicated to the traditional trades of Abruzzo. These images provide a bridge between past and present, celebrating individuals whose work and experience have helped define the identity of the region and whose stories continue to inspire future generations.
